about The Golden Horse Awards

The Golden Horse Awards was founded in 1962 to promote Taiwanese film production and recognize excellent Taiwanese films and outstanding filmmakers. The name “Golden Horse” is derived from the names of the two outlying islands of Kinmen and Matsu.

As the most prominent annual film festival in Taiwan, the Taipei Golden Horse Film Festival (TGHFF) comprises two parts. The Golden Horse Awards Competition aims at encouraging the development of Chinese-language films. The international programme is intended to introduce excellent films from around the world to Taiwanese audiences , in order to stimulate exchange of ideas and inspire creativity.
